Big bang for thieves?

Thirty kilograms of sporting gunpowder has been stolen from the former Naval magazine at Cass Bay. A heavily secured bunker has been broken into, but the police say the break-in could have happened any time since May 5. Six skg drums of the powder were taken. The police say that, under pressure, the powder could deliver an 80001 b explosive charge. The gunpowder w’as the property of a Christchurch wholesale firm, Allan G. Mitchell (N.Z.) Ltd.
