Dispute in 31st day
PA Hastings The dispute affecting the beefhouse at the Whakatu freezing works entered its thirty-first day yesterday without any sign of a settlement.
Beefhouse workers, who struck on April 6 in support of their claim for a new beef contract, would meet in the evening, and a shed meeting would be held this morning, said Mr L. Heke, secretary of the Whakatu sub-branch of the Meat Workerd* Union, yesterday. Talks constantly were being held with the company, but there was nothing new to report, he said.
