9 Chch boys for trial
Nine Christchurch boys are included in a group of 20 which will take part in a trial in Christchurch to select the New Zealand Secondary Schools’ cricket team. Two trials will be held, :with northern North Island prospects assembling at . Hamilton. The southern region trial will take place at the Hagley Sports Centre on May 15-16. The main task for the team will be to compete in the Australasian schoolboys’ cricket tournament at Sydney next summer. The southern region trialists are:.—David Boyle, Mark Chamberlain, Brent Glenville, Stephen Howarth, Rod Latham, Mark Priest, Jeremy McGuire, Simon Carter, John Sanson (all Christchurch); Michael Francis, David Barnden, Anup Nathu (Wellington); Dean Phillips, Tim McKeown Allan Bligh, Barry Ward (Timaru); , Grant McKenzie (Napier); ( Grant Davies (Levin); Russell Thomas (Picton); David Baird , (Westport).
