Authority reserves decisions
Decision was reserved on applications for 10 vehicle authorities by Rapid Despatch Carriers, Ltd, before the Christchurch district Transport Licensing Authority (Mr D. L. Hogan). The company was applying for the authorities as an amendment to its continuous goods service licence. Eight authorities were being sought for the cartage of general goods throughout the No. 9 transport district, one for household removals in the South Island, and the last for large loads within the South Island, with exemption from rail restriction.
Two continuous goods service licences and a rentalservice licence were revoked during the week. Leslie John Keenan and Melville William Sculper both had licences with one vehicle authority revoked because of a lack of use. Alpha Rent-a-car, Ltd, of Otahuhi, had its rental service licence revoked, as it had expired. John Joseph Nolan, of Haast , was granted an amendment to his continuous goods-service licence allowing him to carry green skins between Christchurch and Cromwell, and velvet, sinews, and tails between Te Anau and Greymouth.
