Tenth bid for seat
PA Blenheim The doyen of Social Credit parliamentary candidates, Mr George Kerr, will contest his tenth successive election this year. Mr Kerr, aged 63, retired but still farming at Seddon, said at the 1975 election that it “looks like my last attempt.” However, the league’s hopes to have a younger person contest the Marlborough seat have been dashed by circumstances, and Mr Kerr has been selected to carry Social Credit’s colours in this year’s General Election. The sitting member is Mr Edward Latter (National), the former Labour member, Mr lan Brooks has been endorsed as that party’s candidate, and Values is considering a nomination, so it appears the election will again be a four-wav contest.
