7000 at Cannock ceremony
! London correspondent About 7000 attended the annual Anzac Day servee at Cannock cemetery in Staffordshire on Sunday.
It has become by far the largest Anzac ceremony outside Australia or New Zealand. and the organiser (Mr J. Mellor) said yesterday
that there might be prob-i lems in accommodating all' those who want to attend: next year. The guest of honour was Mr K. Robertson, aged 83, of Northcote Road, Christchurch, who travelled to Britain with his wife specially for the ceremony. Mr Robertson served at Cannock in 1918, as a soldier in
• j the New Zealand Rifle Bril'gade. 11 The 73 graves of members of the brigade were deco- > rated with posiers of red ' and white flowers, each with • a Rifle Brigade pin, by > women of the town. Fortysix wreaths were laid, by ■ members representing every ■ organisation in Britain of i former servicemen.
