Recipe contest extended
The closing date for the Crippled Children Society's recipe competition for die disabled has been extended to May 1, as the response has been slower than expected. The organiser, Mrs K. Hopkins, said recently that she did not want anyone to jniss meeting the deadline with recipes and handv hints. "The sharing of ideas on gadgets and hints is as important as the recipe side of the campetition.” she said. •‘I have received many p edges of genuine interest.” One entrant, Mrs May Hl. who had suffered a stroke, told Mrs Hopkins that she believed the competition was of considerable importance to all disabled persons. T am sure we will be helping other disabled people just by swapping our hints; and we certainly need help.” said Mrs Hill, a member of the Takapuna Civilian Maimed Association. Mrs Hill said that though she enjoyed listening to television recipes she found thej had too many ingredients for her to gather together. Then, after making the meals, she was too tired to enjoy them. “Most invalids have to be careful about their diets,” she said. “Many disabled people are also not able to take strong flavours.” Recipes received so far have ranged from Chinesestyle main courses to pavlovas.
