Turrets and steeply pitched root's will later this year begin to sprout from the top floor of the Aniuri Motors car-parking building in Durham Street. They will be part of modifications to the existing building, which will include 2900 sq.m of office space (shown above). Conditional use has been approved by the Christchurch City Council, and detailed plans are nowbeing prepared. It is hoped that tenders will be called in August, and that the remodelling will be completed by September next year. A central landscaped courtyard will be incorporated in the design so that interior offices have an outlook, as well as those on the street frontages. Car-parks will be

available immediately below each suite of offices. Town-planning conditions imposed by the City Council say that no building permit will be issued unless the design of the turrets and exterior signs is satisfactory, and unless the exterior colour scheme complements the adjacent Provincial Council Chambers and the new law courts.
