Strong rises for some of the leading industrial stocks and spirited trading of speculative mining shares were the main features on Australian stock exchanges yesterday. B.H.P. gained 4c to close at 616 c, and CSR 8c to 282 c. A.C.1., 1.C.1., Lend Lease and Hooker were among other industrials to rise.

The best gain among the mining speculators was Central Pacific which gained 20c to 470 c. Its oil shale partner Southern Pacific gained to 170 c.

Both have been actively sought by overseas, especially North American interests and a United Kingdom broker has tipped big price gains for them.

Tasminex, the Tasmatuan scheelite producer, rose to 120 c during the morning but dropped sharply to 100 c for a gain of 7c ahead of a quarterly report in which the directors gave hopes of a dividend after the profit announced last week, its first during the 19705.
