Flats coming down for market building
A Tuam. Street block at flats will be demolished to make way for extensions to the premises of Macfarlane and Growers, Ltd. Tenders for demolition of the block closed this week with the designers of its successor, Campbell, Hamann, and Partners. The reinforced-concrete building contains 10 flats, and is at 245 Tuam Street, adjacent to the present
produce market buildings of Macfarlane and Growers. The site has a Government valuation (1974) of $51,300 and is 1012sq.m in area. It will be used for extensions to the company’s existing fruit-hold-ing rooms. The manager of Macfarlane and Growers (Mr L. Cahill) haa declined to reveal any details of the planned extensions.
