Man for trial on five counts
Francis George McKenzie, aged 23, a showman, was committed to the Supreme Court for trial on five charges involving aiding and abetting in burglaries and receiving after depositions bad been heard in the Magistrate's Court yesterday.
McKenzie appeared before Messrs S. E. Boanas and M. W. Burbery, Justices of the Peace, on four charges of aiding and abetting Anthony George Price in the burglary of four Christchurch food stores. He was also charged with receiving a car radiator from Price.
Five food store proprietors gave evidence that their premises had been burgled earlier this year.. In some cases goods valued at up to $6OO had been taken. Police Constable Rex Barnett said that in a statement McKenzie had told him he had driven his brother,' Price, to a number of food; stores in Christchurch earlier in the vear.
After dropping his brother off, he had driven around for a while and had later picked him up again.
