Drama exclusion sought
PA Wellington Television film crews will, today consider a request to] exclude two prestige drama productions from industrial action. The chairman of the Broad-1 casting Corporation (Mr lan, Cross) last evening appealed' to the Public Service Association to protect TVl’s • Rachel” and South Pacific Television's “Gather Your Dreams” in the present navi dispute. Cameramen, film editors J and sound recordists have refused to work more than! 20km from their home bases as pan of a protest against' lack of progress in the oavj dispute Production of “Rachel,’’ being filmed on location in Marlborough, and “Gather Your Dreams.” nearing com-' pletion at Thames, stopped on Thursdav when the ban was imposed. In a letter to the P.S.A.. Mr I Cross said New Zealand productions of this kind. like the arts generally. had enough barriers to achievement without a dispute between the B.C.N.Z. and the P.S.A. "knocking them down ” The president of the P.S.A. (Mr J. F. Turner) said last evening that the request would be discussed at a full stop-work meeting of television film crews this morning.
