Mr Drapeau said the 1984 Games, if held in Montreal, would be self-supporting because most of the necessary installations have already been built. Although Mr Drapeau originally promised that the 1976 Montreal Games would be self-financing, taxpayers will be paying for the SUSI billion deficit for a long time to come.
