County ends year in the "black’
i The Mackenzie County [Council has ended the financial year with a bank account' credit of $155,852. The council’s chairman (Mr B. J. O’Neil) said yesterday he thought the position “very; satisfactory, and a credit toi the council’s staff.” The council’s finance chair- ; man (Cr A. G. Braddick) said that separately invested reserved funds totalled [ $103,310. bringing the total current cash resources to $528,520. He said that the position was sound. particularly: because of anticipated com- * mitments this year, including
jan increased roading proj gramme and planned spending on plant renewal. The council paid out only •$177 in overdraft interest, while general bank account i money, invested on term i deposit, netted ,$545 in : interest, he said. Forest scheme A co-operative forest j scheme, organised by the South Canterbury Planning Council, has little interest ' for the Mackenzie County. It has extensive forestry ; reserves in forests of its own. [The council agreed it should 'continue to go on its own.
