German leader to visit N.Z.

PA Wellington The West German President (Mr Scheel) would make a State visit to New Zealand in October, the Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon) announced yesterday. Mr Scheel’s visit will be the first by a West German president. Mr Muldoon said that the Government attached the “highest importance” to the visit. West Germany had become an important source of capital for New Zealand and New Zealand looked to it increasingly as a market for its exports. “The visit will be a valuable opportunity to explore

at the highest level ways in which there can be more direct and substantial cooperation between our two countries.” said Mr Muldoon. “There is much we can learn and gain from each other.’” Mr Muldoon said that the Government welcomed West

Germany’s growing interest iin the South Pacific.
