Kanga’s Lad in good heart
Special correspondent Hastings A brilliant 1600 m trial by Kanga’s Lad highlighted proceedings at the Hastings track yesterday morning and stamped him as an excellent winning chance at Marlborough tomorrow. Working wide out on the course proper (easy), Kanga’s Lad reeled off 1000 m in Imin 1.8 sec, the final 600 m in 38.5 sec. He was partnered by * stablemate, Tod Mark, but finished a good length clear at the finish. Both horses left yesterday for Wellington and were shipped across to the South Island last night.
They should each pick up a win over tile three day Marlborough meeting. The glamour Hastings filly, Mun Lee, showed she was ready to tackle the Munuwatu Breeders’ Stakes by running a solid iOOOm on the course proper in Imin 3.Bsec. She looked to have plenty in hand at the end of the workout. Taj Rani, which needs one more scratching to gain a start in the Manawatu Metric Mile, worked kindly alongside Tarlton over 1200 m. They were timed over the last 1000 m in Imin 4.2 sec. the fina) 600 m in 39.45ec.
