‘Pickering Courts’
The names of two former Mayors of Christchurch may soon adorn new pensione fiat complexes. Cr P. J. R. Skellerup has suggested, with housing and property committee approval, the names of Guthrey Courts and Pickering Courts for pensioner blocks in Olliviers Road and Bristol Street respectively. Consent of Mr A. R. Guthrey, Mayor from 1968 to 1971. and Mr N. G. Pickering, Mayor from 1971 to 1974, will be sought if the full council approves the plan. Tennis.—The top seed, Briar lottfried (U.S.), overcame r low start to defeat Eddie Dibbs nd win the $U575,000 Dayton (bio. tennis classic with a three et score of 2-6. 6-5, 7-6. Soccer.— Hearts beat Hamilton -0. in a Scottish division one ootball match played at Hamil on on Sunday.
