Situation: An anticyclone near Tasmania extends a ridge of high pressure towards the South Island; a strong disturbed west-southwesterly airstream flows over the south Tasman Sea on to the south of the South Island; a front within this airstream will be passing over eastern districts from Canterbury to Wairarapa during the day. Forecasts: Canterbury: Mostly fine with light winds; however a
brief south-west change about the coast in the middle of the day may bring a few showers. Marlborough, Nelson: Mainly fine with light winds and moderate to mild temperatures; a brief south-west change may bring a few showers to coastal Marlborough this afternoon. Buller, Westland: Fine with light winds and mild afternoon temperatures. Outlook: Fair for all districts.
