NOTICE OF SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING A SPECIAL General Meeting of members of the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society, is to be held in the Winter Garden Hall. 195 Armagh Street. Christchurch, at 7.30 p.m., on Tuesday, April 4. 1978. The Special General Meeting has been requisitioned bv 30 registered members in terms of the Society's rule 19, and the subjects for discussion to be as follows:— (a> Look into all aspects of the handling of the last Council Election for the Ellesmere, Leeston. Akaroa. Halswell sub-district by the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society, their returning officer, their solicitor and scrutineers. Acting on instructions from the solicitors, the seat was given to Ronald Bruce Hill, who polled 335 votes against G. Mugford’s 495 votes, because of a supposed technicality in G. Mugford's nomination paper, and we ask to do what is necessary to rectify this matter.
Is the Council allowed to make ex-gratis payments to retiring staff members. <c) Can the rule be quoted which allows the Council to appoint a Chief Executive Officer, and if so. what are his powers? If not, we move, that this title revert to that of Secretary. Members will be admitted bv producing their current 1977-78 membership butts, blue for fishing and yellow for game. B. F- WEBB.
