No liquor licence for club
PA Auckland An Otahuhu sports club which the police had earlier! described as a source of violence and disorder frequented by drug users, has been refused a general ancillary liquor licence. The Licensing Control Commission said it was not satisfied at this stage by the application from the Courier Rangers’ Association Football and Sports Club.
The commission said that the club had been using commercial premises some distance from any playing fields and was run in association with a night club, which was in effect an applicant club as well. Police evidence had shown that there had been trouble in or around the club premises and, on one occasion at least, cannabis was found on the premises.
