Rats make tasty sausages
NZPA-Reuter Manila Food researchers have come up with a new source of protein in the Philippines — rat sausage. Expens at the University of the Philippines College of Agriculture used 400 ricefield rats in an experiment, grinding the rat into mince. The experts then arrived at this recipe: for each kilogramme of rat meat, take 15 grams of salt, 30 grams of sugar, 10 grams of garlic, 10 millilitres of pineapple juice, and two grams of seasoning. The result, rat sausage, was fried in deep fat for 15 minutes and was rated tastier than pork sausages, the experts said.
