Uteena loses filly foal

Templeton owners, | snffltL and Dick Monk suffered some ill luck last' l n t “,’^ ay ,. when the four: month old filly foal from, St' raare Uteena died. The filly which was by I t,e s r \ 1 M* r> was born weak 1 and despite all attempts to strengthen her she failed to respond. The foal was the first fillv Uteena has foaled and as the I j s rising twenty years 1 old Maisie and Dick were! naturally keen that she should have a filly. Uteena herself’was by U i Scott from Teena Marie which was by Light Brigade and she was an excellent race mare, winning manv < races as a trotter. ' I So. with such fine breed- I mg and an excellent race record to match high hopes were held for Uteena as a;' broodmare. However she has proved to be a very hard mare to get in foal and after more than nine years as au broodmare she has only 1 three live foals to her credit, I; They’ are Aneetu, a maiden;' trotter by Tuft, Tuteena also |i by Tuft, and a top trotter < here and now racing in America, and Eisiam a pacer! by Perfecto Hanover cur-!' rently racing well. I i Uteena is not now in foal i. but will be under veterinary! supervision during the win-;, ter and Maisie and Dick > i hope that with all the care! and attention possible Ut- i eena may still give them I that filly they want.
