Young Quinn fails again

NZPA Washington The New Zealand pacer, Young Quinn, was beaten again at Meadowlands, New Jersey, on Saturday night. The nine-year-old, driven for the first time this year by his trainer, Charlie Hunter, finished second last in a field of seven in a $30,000 Invitational. Yoyng Quinn started well from No. 3 and was second or third for most of the fast-run race. But he drifted in the straight when the pressure went on. The winner, in Imln 57.65ec, was the hot favourite, Senor Skipper, which has now won four of his last five races and is rated the best free-for-all horse in the eastern United States at the moment.

Young Quinn started the season in dashing form, winning several races, but has now failed in his last two.
