3-day games again
From R. T. BRITTENDEN Shell Series matches next season will again be of three days’ duration. This was decided by the N.Z.C.C. Board of Control at its Auckland meeting on Tuesday. There will again be a round-robin competition of five games for the Shell Cup and then sectional play for the Shell Trophy, as before. The first round draw will be available soon. There will be a chance, however, in the second round groupings. Canterbury, which competed this season against Wellington and Otago in the second round, is now grouped with Auckland and Central Districts. There has been no decision yet on the playing conditions for the competition — there has been a strong feeling that the limitation of 75 overs on the first innings of each side has not been a success. But whether this and other matters relating to the organisation of the competition will be changed will not be made known until July. A subcommittee of the board is working <Jn this at present.
