Basketball upset
Burnside gained an upset, 78-52 win over the Canterbury champions, Checkers, in the fourth round of the A grade men’s basketball pre-season league in Cowles Stadium. Jaks-Old Boys maintained their unbeaten record with another! overwhelming victory, this time; 1 against University, 84-32. • In the women's A grade. Maire-i !hau A gained a very convincing ! win over Rebels, 70-35. Mairehau I : High School, the winner of thei provincial title last year, did not* fare quite so well, defeating; [United. 30-23, after a long strug-’ gle.
