Parole board to see Thomas
PA Auckland Arthur Allan Thomas, the man twice convicted of the Crewe murders, is due to appear before a prison parole board on Friday. It will be the first time Thomas has been eligible to appear before the board since he was sentenced to life imprisonment. He has been in custody since he was arrested in November, 1970. He was first convicted of the murders in 1971, and again after his retrial in 1973. Last month he was transferred from Auckland’s top security Paremoreincr Prison to Mount Eden after his reclassification from maximum to medium security rating.
The parole board will consider Thomas’s case on Friday at Mount Eden Prison. The parole board members are Mr Justice O’Regan; the Secretary for Justice (Mr G. S. Orr); Mr J. D. Murray, S.M., of Dunedin; Dr S. W. P. Mirams: Mrs J. M. Dunmore; and Mr G. T. Marsden.
