executive for 14 years. He follows in the footsteps of two other Christchurch bishops who have served as presidents of the National Council of I I Churches. Archbishop West-! ; Watson, a founder of the 1 ecumenical movement, held the post in 1941-2. and ,Bishop Warren in 1949-50.
