Ashburton stakes up
PA Ashburton Stakes paid by the Ashburtop Trotting Club will rise by S2OO per race for the remainder of the season. The increases were announced yesterday by the club’s secretary, Mr Trevor Robertson. He said the rises would apply to ail races at the autumn and winter meetings with the. exception of the New Zealand Sapling Stakes and the Queen's Birthday Stakes. The stake for the former was increased to 810,000 at i the start of the season while ; the Queen’s Birthday Stakes I will be worth $3OOO.
