Allez Vite colt for Australia
F Special correspondent Dunedin Hector Anderton sen’s success with progeny of Allez Vite has influenced an Australian owner to place a Noble Bijou colt out of the mare in his stable. The colt was sold for $lO,OOO at the National Yearling Sales at Trentham last month when offered by Clayton Elrington and Associates, of Adelaide. He is a half-brother to the ill fated Waronui and -Parlez Vite, Mellay Vite and Sir James. Waronui, the South Island’s top three-year-old last season won 13 races for Anderton including the Dunedin and Southland Guineas, South Island Championship, Riverton Cup and Benson and Hedges Handicap at Wingatui.
Anderton bred Waronui <"by Mellay) and Parlez Vite tby Causeur). which won twice and placed three times second on six starts as a jumper before he collapsed and died after a workout last March. Mellay Vite won the 1973 Metropolitan Handicap from the Anderton stable and another of Allez Vite’s progeny, Quarry Hills has quit maiden ranks this term. Allez Vite, a daughter of Harken and Belisande won five times when trained by Anderton.
Anderton is at present breaking in the Noble Bijou Alez Vite colt, along .with a Noble Bijou Princess Mellay filly and a colt by the same sire out of Miss Slick. Mellseur, a candidate for the Otago Mannequin Stakes, returned a smart gallop over 1000 m at Wingatui yesterday morning. Working on' the plough which was fast, Mellseur and a two-year-old halfbrother by Parkistinian to Thomas Mellay sped over 1000 m in Imin 1.75, the last 800 m in 48.9 s and final 600 m in 37.55. The Parkistinian two-year-old is trained by John Dowling.
Trieste and Charles Dickens worked over a round then dashed home from the 600 m in 36.15. Causelight and Lucky Robe were well clear of Olvseton at the finish of 800 m in 49.65. Flambee d’Or, which has freshened well, ran 1000 m with Art Festival in Imin 3s, and 24.2 s for the first 400 m. Princess Camille hung out and covered extra ground but still had the edge on Black Classic when sprinting 600 m in 37.15. Greyt, Innis and a Country Dance filly clocked 37,6 s for 600 m. Candyboy ran 800 m in 53s on the sand. He seems likely to need his race on Saturday.
