Renovations to hall required
If the renovations on the Rolleston Hall bring the building up to standard, the Ellesmere County Council will grant a users’ licence to the hall management.
The Rolleston Hall Board of Trustees was found to be in breach of the Counties Act recently, and the council considered forbidding the use of the hall. The council decided to grant a licence for the 197879 year provided that a schedule of 19 requirements was met. These laid down improvements to toilet and kitchen facilities and the hall exterior, and required compliance with Fire Service regulations. “The place is a shocker,” said Cr D. H. Goulden. Much damage had been done by vandals in the last three years. “I think the conditions are quite reasonable,” said the County Engineer (Mr G. L. Tapper). They will set the hall up for the short-term, and allow catering of the tea-and-biscuits kind.”
The council decided to put the conditions to interested parties with offers of a three-to-one subsidy on funds raised, and a cash grant, possibly in the form of an interest-free loan.
