Beiliss bowls

PA Palmerston North I Weather permitting, Peter Beiliss- (Aramoho) seems likely to win the Manawatu Bowling Centre’s Lion masters singles tournament for the second consecutive year. Beiliss yesterday produced a crushing, almost overwhelming display of bowling skill to wallop one of his hardest opponents, Dave Baldwin iParitutu), 31-16, in the first round of postsection play., As well as some of his opponents played, none looked as convincing as Beiliss. Baldwin took an early lead and, with the help of a four when steady rain caused the aggressive Beiliss to slip when driving, was soon ahead, 12-7. Beiliss was obviously in trouble with the rain, coming to his knees in this particular instance, but when the weather improved he regained his immaculate drawing touch and Baldwin was struggling for the rest of the game. Baldwin could score only four singles In the last 17 ends of the 26-end game. Bob McDonald (Onehunga)
