Dog-gone sorry
“Footrot Flats” fans, especially all of those who telephoned or wrote to “The Press” yesterday protesting about the absence of Wai and Dog — here is the strip you missed yesterday. To make up for the deprivation brought about by a technical problem, “The Press” today brings you not only the missing episode, but also the regular ration.
Followers of doings at the “Flats” were stung into action by failu>e of their friends to appear: even Aunt Doily could not have been more outraged. Seven signatories to one
formal letter of protest said they wished to register their disapproval in “the strongest possible manner.”
Christchurch, they said, "... is a town whose pleasures are few and far between.
“As this comic strip is regarded as a great moralebooster ar.d the heart and core of your paper . . . this is a serious deprivation to the cultural life of Christchurch.” As Cooch would say, something like this really lets you know who your friends are.
