Hume helped by margins
Improved prices and cost reductions helped raise the unaudited group net profit of Hume Industries (N.Z.), Ltd, 21.4 per cent to $505,000 in the six months to December 31 after allowing for extraordinary items.
Pre-tax trading profit rose 7.5 per cent to $856,000, and the profit was after providing $26,000 more for tax at $413,000. The reduction in Government spending may mean that the predicted profit for the year may not be achieved, the directors say.
