Jackson in croquet final
i PA Wellington Bob Jackson of Auckland had his revenge against the youthful Paul Skinley in the national croquet tournament yesterday. Jackson won his way into the final of the open championship by beating Skinley in a tight two-gamer. His opponent will be the Hawke’s Bay player, Joseph Hogan, who survived a threegame match in the semi-final against the defending title holder, John Prince, 26-11, 11-26 26-9. Skinley stayed in the hunt for a second title from the tournament by winning into the final of the men’s handicap with a controlled display against John Reade (Wellington). Skinley won 26-9. Wellingtons Jim Wardle was among the day’s winners with a tight 26-23 result over Catherine Middlemiss (i ranklin). In the women’s championship match Susan Grigg (Canterbury) defeated Rose Thodv (Thames Valley a Results:—' OPEN B. Jackson (Auckland), B P. Skinley (Christchurch), 26-21, 26-9; J. Softball.—Hawke’s Bay had to struggle for eight innings to maintain its unbeaten record in the national senior schoolboys" softball championships at Naenaa Park yesterday, scoring a run in the extra innings to beat Manawatu, 2-1.
