New uranium search agreements made
The. Power Reactor and) Nuclear Fuel Development Corporation (PNC) of Japan has signed separate jointventure agreements to search for uranium with Magnet Metals Ltd, and Australian Consolidated Minerals, Ltd. The Magnet Metals jointventure will explore the Eucla Basin, Western Australia. The exploration area is 241 km south-east of the nickel and gold centre of Kalgoorlie, and 805 km east of Perth. The exploration program is aimed at sand-stone type uranium deposits, and the first year’s work will involve preliminary geophysical surveys, geological studies, sampling and drilling. The A.C.M. joint-venture
i will search for uranium over the 100,000 sq.km Murchison district of Western Australia. The Japanese Government established P.N.C. 10 years ago to stimulate the development of nuclear fuel manufacture, and the exploration for uranium resources. The Australian and Japanese governments have approved the two new uranium search projects.
