Five 120 megawatt boiler turbine-generator units, each rated at 376 tonnes of steam per hour at 128 bar and 541, deg. C. THE JOBS: The Electricity Department’s thermal generation is a rapidly expanding industry — Huntly and Marsden B Power Stations will be commissioned in 1979. To staff these stations the Department will need to double its existing thermal operating staff.
THE APPLICANTS: Should have experience that will enable them to qualify for Ministry of Transport Certificates of Competency — Boiler Attendant, 2nd or Ist fitting apprenticeship or experience in the operation or maintenance of heavy rotating i or marine engineering. I Every assistance and encouragement will be given with study toward the required qualifications. Departmental training courses are conducted for all levels of development and successful appointees will be required to attend. THE PROSPECTS: Initial appointment will be as Auxiliary Plant Operator for training in the operation of steam power plant at Marsden. Meremere and New Plymouth. Promotion is available to higher operating positions and eventually to station management. THE PAY AND CONDITIONS: An attractive salary and shift allowance, penal rates etc., is paid.
