Teaching report out
PA Wellington The Committee on the Registration of Teachers has recommended the establishment of an independent registration authority for teachers, and a common code of discipline for all teachers. The report of the committee, the chairman of which was Sir John Marshall, has just been presented to the Minister of Education (Mr Gandar).
The committee sat for 18 months. Mr Gandar said that the report made more than 100 recommendations related to the registration and discipline of teachers. “I am sure these will lead to greater professional status for the teaching service,” he said. He expects the report to be printed and available for public scrutiny early next year.
