‘Risky’ job praised
Auckland The work of undercover police officers was praised by a judge in the Supreme Court at Auckland yesterday. Mr Justice McMullin said a large debt was owed to undercover officers who were at times at some risk to themselves. He made the comment when he sentenced Dennis Frederick Popham, aged 22. a builder’s labourer, of Panmure, to a total of nine months imprisonment on two chatges of selling cannabis to an undercover policeman. Popham was found guilty on one charge and pleaded guilty to the other. The charges related to offences comftjftted in August last year rind April this year.
