Farewell for principals
Ten retiring Canterbury’ i primary-school principals' were bidden farewell at ai function. Each of the men] has spent about 40 yearsi teaching. The function, at the University of Canterbury, has I been organised by the j Christchurch Primary School Principals’ Association. Its (president (Mr E. Cameron) I said that the function was held annually, although there were usually only four or five principals to be bidden farewell. Two of the principals I retired earlier this year. They (are Mr R. Lovell-Smith, forimerly of Mount Pleasant I School, and Mr J. Thomson, (formerly of Darfield School.
The other eight are Mr J. Andrews, of Hoon Hay School; Mr E. Arbuckle, of Linwood North School; Mr L. Cowles, of Manning Intermediate school; Mr B. Finch, of Ashgrove School, Rangiora; Mr P. Gifford, of Fendalton School; Mr R. Grant, of Kendal School; Mr T. Judkins, of Quinns Road School; and Mr H. Nicholls, of Wairakei School.
