Interest in Satis
Twenty-three Christchurch companies have so far joined the Govemmentsponsored information service, Satis. Based at the Canterbury Public Library, the service started three weeks ago. The information resources officer, Mr G. Nicol, is pleased with the response so far.
Companies which have paid the nominal $2O a year for the information service include a jam manufacturer, heavy engineering and woodworking factories, electronics factories, an interior designer, a town-planning consultant, a branch of the D.S.I.R. the Christchurch Drainage Board, and a consulting engineer. The service last Friday had processed 47 inquiries. Questions asked ranged from the number of potters in Christchurch and the manufacturers and importers of phosphoric acid to the loadcarrying capacity of a human being and statistics on the amount of tracing paper imported into New Zealand.
