Bowling win for Taranaki
| PA New Plymouth A stunning bowling performance by 17-year-old New Plymouth Boys' High School sixth former Gary Robertson helped Taranaki to an easy win over Hawke’s Bay in a Hawke Cup elimination match at Pukekura Park, New Plymouth, yesterday. Robertson playing in his first match for Taranaki, took five wickets for 49 runs at Hawke’s Bay was I dismissed for 121 in reply to Taranaki’s first innings of 285. At one stage, Robertson, a medium pacer, had five wickets for 25 runs. The usual wicket-taker for Taranaki, Alistar Jordan, took two for 32. On Saturday he shared a ninth wicket partnership of 101 with a fellow bowler Peter Stewart. Scores: Taranaki: 285 (L. Jordan 57, P. R. Stewart 45, J. W. Burtt 29, B. Richards 35; I. Wheeler 3/52, D. O’Sullivan 3/60, D. Morland 2/55) and 113 for four (E. Perritt 42, Burtt 23 not out, P. Blackbourne 18; Morland 3/39); Hawke’s Bay; 121 (E. McSweeney 47, I. Wheeler 31, G. Robertson 5/49; A. B. Jordan 2/32, P. R. Stewart 2/31).
