Government record
Sir, — Although it has been a failure in all areas of responsibility this Government does not lack optimism. The propaganda machine is in action again and building up to full steam for the next election. Having played its successful confidence trick (the greatest in our political history) in 1975, the National Party is conducting a campaign to brainwash the public about winning this seat and that seat and so on. What nonsense. These outbursts are a good cover to hide realities such as rising prices (food, electricity charges, clothing, rents, etc) industrial chaos, increasing crime and general social unrest. The voter can be likened to the punter: if the track record is no good he will not back the horse. Because of its dismal performance in office, the National Party will be left well behind in the race for the Treasury benches next time round. — Yours, etc., ROGER BLAIR. November 24, 1977.
