Maths man gets award
The head of the mathematics department at Papanui High School (Mr S. F. Papps) has been awarded the 1977 CanterI bury Mathematical Associi ation Whitcoull’s trav- ' elling scholarship. The scholarship will enable him to attend the seventh biennial conferI ence of the Australian l Association of MathematI ics Teachers, to be held at ■ Monash University, .MelI bourne in January. | It is the first time the i scholarship has been. I offered to a teacher. In ] previous years it has been ; awarded to a senior, I secondary school pupil in I the Canterbury district to | take part in the Australian Summer School in CanI berra. The scholarship is ! worth $6OO.
