Ratepayers’ meeting
An association for concerned residents and ratepayers of Kaiapoi may be formed at a public meeting in the Anglican hall on Friday, November 18 at 7.30 p.m. Mrs R. Wade, as spokesman for a group of seven interested persons, said the proposal had already met considerable verbarsupport. The aim of the meeting was to see if Kaiapoi needed such an organisation. The group felt that Kaiapoi people should be made aware and be able to voice an opinion on matters of concern. Such an organisation could be a watchdog within the community. If the meeting was agreeable, a name and a small . subscription to cover expenses would be settled. A chairman would be needed and a group of perhaps about eight to keep in close communication with the Borough Council.
