Another seeks Papanui
Another Labour Party member has announced his intention to seek the party’s nomination for the Papanui I seat in next year’s General Election. Mr T. N. D. Anderson, who was last month elected to the Christchurch Transport Board, becomes the 13th known aspirant for the nomination. Mr Anderson, a 31-year-old secondary school teacher, is the treasurer of the party’s Papanui branch and was also a candidate for the Christchurch City Council last month. He has served on the executive of the Canterbury Council for Civil Liberties and other activities have included the posts of co-organ-iser of the 1976 Lyttelton demonstration opposing the visit of nuclear-powered and nuclear-armed ships and the South Island co-ordinator of the “Campaign Half Million” Manapouri petition in 1976.
