Watson leads contest
Another fine bowling performance gave Les Watson, of St Albans, three points, and the over-all lead in the “player of the day” competition sponsored by Lion Breweries in the senior cricket championship. Watson took six wickets in an Old Collegians collapse, and he has a total of seven points. Only one behind him are Dayle Hadlee (Old Boys), Peter Wallace (Bumside-West) and Keith Thomson (Sydenham). Saturday’s awards were.— Three points: Watson, Thomson, Gary Hooper (East-Shirley), Paul Hammant (Riccarton). Two points: lan Wilson (Sydenham), John Mitchell (Burnside-West), Lindsay Thom (Riccarton) and Neil Francis (St Albans). One point: Dayle Hadlee, Gerald Cummins (Bumside-West), Keith Hardie (Lancaster Park) and Stephen Bock (St Albans).
