A new one for Stu
“Stu’s” latest programme, “Forum,” screening with “Nice One” each Wednesday, will run until Christmas. Parents’ opinons of “Stu” differ sharply, but young
viewers are mostly enthusiastic. Television One says “Forum,” a discussion programme with “Stu” as interviewer, is designed partly to develop him as an older character. (He is in fact 23). “Forum” introduces three secondary-school pupils each week to put forward their views on problems and pressures they face while at school and in society.
i Tim Harding, David Haywood, Sarah Harrison, Grant I Pride, Alex Reedigk, and Juliet Martin make up the i panels, and come from ’schools in and around the (Wellington district.
Many controversial topics are discussed on “Forum’ 1 — the lowering of drinking, voting and driving ages, immigration, housing, the penal system, drugs, feminism and varied social problems. However, the programme usually centres around “tamer” topics, including advertising, appeals, Maori culture, the media, and the arts in New Zealand.
