Food prices up 0.7%
PA •„ Wellington Food prices rose by an average of 0.7 per cent between September and October, according to figures released yesterday by the Statistics Department. Food prices in October, however, were 17.1 per cent higher than in the same month last year. Of the 0.7 per cent increase in the all-foods group of the consumers price index, the meat, fish, and poultry sub-group accounted for 0.1 per cent of the rise, and 0.8 per cent came from the other-foods sub-group. These increases were offset, however, by a decrease in the fruit and vegetable sub-group of 0.2 per cent.
