False claim for 'lost’ boat

PA Auckland A boat reported as sunk in Manukau Harbour was later found in the back yard of a Lynfield property, the Magistrates’ Court at Auckland heard yesterday. A fisherman, Howard Nicholas Paki, aged 34, had earlier denied conspiring with two others to defraud an insurance company and obtaining $3350 from the company by false pretence. At yesterday’s appearance he changed his plea and was convicted by Mr N. R. Taylor, S.M., and remanded to November 25 for sentence.
