Situation: An anticyclone centred south east of the Chatham Islands extends a ridge of high pressure on to the North Island. A complex low pressure area over the south Tasman Sea is moving slowly east.

Forecast: Marlborough, Nelson: Mainly fine and rather warm in central Marlborough and the Kaikoura coast, with north westerlies becoming strong in exposed places; moderate to fresh north to north east winds elsewhere, with increasing cloud and some showers

developing in the west ol Nelson.

Buller, Westland: Moderate north easterlies, and cloudy skies, with occasional light rain at first, but rain becoming heaviei and more persistent dur* ing the afternoon; moder* ate temperatures.

Canterbury: Moderate north easterlies about the coast but north westerlies becoming strong in ex* posed inland places, mainly fine and rather warm, with some rain about the alps.

Outlook: Fair in the east; rain in the west.
